Each September, churches all over the world gather to serve their communities through outreach and prayer. Here Cornerstone Worship Center shares their experience following an outreach event they called "Project Overflow."

During the weekend of September 13, Cornerstone Worship Center hosted an outreach to distribute goods in kind to their community—household items and essentials for families in need, resources and support from ministry partners, and personal prayer from their church prayer team.
One story in particular stood out: A couple, grieving the recent loss of a family member to suicide, sat with a prayer leader who had also experienced deep loss—his granddaughter had been killed by a drunk driver. He openly shared his story, his grief, and how the Lord had brought him comfort and healing. The prayer leader’s story was able to give the couple hope during extreme sadness and heartache.
“It’s worth it if one person comes to know Christ... People need hope, and we want people to realize that there is good.”
Throughout the day, the prayer leaders who were serving had the blessing of asking each person who came by if they knew Jesus as their Lord and Savior. By the end of the event, the church joyfully shared that their 75 volunteers served more than 500 people and that at least five had accepted Jesus!
By the end of the outreach event, every item God provided had been placed into the hands of someone He wanted to bless. Seeds of hope were planted, and lives were touched. Pastor Skiles noted, “It’s worth it if one person comes to know Christ. It’s worth it if we love on someone and they see the love of Christ. It is a lot of work, but people need hope, and we want people to realize that there is good.”
