"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Gal. 6:2).
Q: How would we define “crisis”?
A: “ A time of great disagreement , confusion, or suffering; an extremely difficult or dangerous point in a situation" (Cambridge University Press, 2025).
Q: What exactly is "crisis intervention"?
A: Crisis intervention is a "short-term management technique" designed to reduce potential permanent damage to an individual affected by a crisis (Wang, D. and V. Gupta).
Q: How is crisis intervention delivered?
A: Crisis intervention can be delivered by phone, virtual means (Zoom, etc.), or in person. Being physically present with people in crisis is preferred if a death has occurred. Delivery of crisis intervention will be discussed with the affected persons beforehand to make certain the best option is determined.
Confidentiality during and after crisis intervention is paramount. Individuals in crisis will be informed about the confidentiality limitations. Beyond the exceptions to confidentiality, Crisis Intervention Chaplains will only discuss details of a crisis with PCG staff who may need to know facts with the intention of approving additional assistance.
