In This Issue

100 years ago, A.D. and Violet McClure moved the Pentecostal Church of God to Ottumwa, Iowa and made plans for a new publication that would share in the task of preaching the whole Gospel to the whole world. Today, in this special edition magazine, we mark volume 100 of that same publication—The Pentecostal Messenger.

This centennial issue holds two postures at once. We certainly intend to reflect on 100 years of God's faithfulness, but perhaps more importantly, we lean into what He is preparing next. After opening 2026 with an issue that emphasized "One Mission," we now center this issue around "One Movement," because... The methods may have changed, but a Church united in mission still moves forward.

In these pages, you will discover that the PCG was founded, in part, because of a publication. Since it archives decades of spiritual breakthrough, missional achievement, and valuable institutional knowledge, The Messenger has carried a legacy and heritage unlike any other resource the PCG has ever made available. This particular issue features articles that review the historical narrative, trace structural and design shifts through the years, and capture personal reflections from some of the editors who shaped the PM in recent decades. Between those features, we have curated a series of images, cover designs, pull-quotes, and columns from archival issues, revisiting each through the lens of our missional goals—100 Nations, 1,000 Next-Gen Leaders, 10,000 Ministers and Churches, and 1,000,000 Christ-followers. Finally, General Secretary Lineberry and General Bishop Kincaid give thanks for 100 years of faithful hands, declaring that the PCG is one symphony still moving toward its crescendo.

Pages have turned. Chapters have closed. Yet the story is not finished, and the press is still printing. As you read, consider your role in the story and the part you are writing.
