"The woman said, 'I know that Messiah' (called Christ) 'is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.' Then Jesus declared, 'I, the one speaking to you—I am he.'" JOHN 4:25-26, NIV

Jesus the Messiah

The mission entrusted to The Messiah, as conveyed through Scripture, is one of profound purpose and divine appointment. Jesus, identified as the Chosen and Anointed One, was commissioned by God with a sacred task: to bring salvation, reconciliation, and eternal life to all of humanity. His role as The Messiah fulfills God's redemptive plan. This mission includes both spiritual and earthly dimensions. Spiritually, Jesus came to bridge the gap between God and humanity, offering a path to forgiveness and a restored relationship. In the earthly realm, Jesus was the perfect example of a life of humble service, unconditional love, deep compassion, and miraculous deeds. Anointed by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38), He walked among us, demonstrating the heart of God through acts of healing and restoration.

As The "Anointed One" (The Messiah) the mission of Jesus is to redeem humanity, bridge the gap between God and man, and establish an eternal kingdom of righteousness and peace. In Old Testament culture, when someone was called to an office, they would be considered as "anointed."

There were three distinct offices to which someone, called by God, was considered "anointed." First being "prophet" - One who was chosen and anointed by God to speak on His behalf. Second being "priest"- One anointed to act as a mediator between God and man through the sacrificial system for the forgiveness of sins. Third being "king" - One anointed by God for civil responsibilities and ruling over the nation. Only The Messiah could fill all three offices of Prophet, Priest, and King. Tony Evans writes, "...as recorded in Matthew 3:16, the heavens opened up and He experienced the anointing of the Holy Spirit. This anointing launched Jesus into His trifold ministry as prophet, priest, and king."

Ultimately, the mission of The Messiah was to establish anew covenant, granting eternal life to all who believe. His teachings, miracles, and sacrificial offering of His life on the cross were part of this beautiful plan to bring salvation and transform lives.

Embracing the mission of Jesus as The Anointed Messiah is like stepping into a warm embrace of divine love and purpose. He was handpicked by God for a sacred task: to bring us salvation, mend our hearts, and offer the gift of eternal life. This mission isn't bound by time. It's a timeless invitation for us to draw close to the Savior. When we SPEAK THE NAME OF JESUS, sharing His story and teachings with others, we're connecting with His mission. We're inviting His transformative power into our lives and those around us. Much like His compassionate acts of healing and love, we too can bring comfort and hope to others. SPEAKING THE NAME JESUS is an invitation to a journey of faith, a path where we discover the profound impact of Jesus' anointing and the Holy Spirit's empowering on our own lives. It's an affirmation that His mission lives on! Empowered woman of God, we are part of it.
