Be the Body of Christ

Often, we talk about the part YOU have in the mission. The mission has personal application. It is the task of making disciples that is given to you by Jesus. As a disciple, you are to make disciples. This can be done in many ways, many of which we have spoken about in this newsletter.

However, being on mission is not a solitary task.

The mission is yours but isn’t only yours. It is the mission of the Church. Dietrich Bonhoeffer in his book Life Together said that “Christian community means community through Jesus Christ and in Jesus Christ. There is no Christian community that is more than this, and none that is less than this. Whether it be a brief, single encounter or the daily community of many years, Christians community is solely this. We belong to one another only through and in Jesus Christ.”

You find your mission through Jesus Christ, but you also find community through Jesus Christ. This is the whole body of Christ that is described in 1 Corinthians 12. It is important that each of us take responsibility for the mission. But it equally important to understand that we are on mission together.

A practical way to be on mission right where you are at is by joining with like-minded people.

When you are on mission together you are held accountable and encouraged. So, partner with mission minded disciples in making more disciples.
